Unidirectional or Bidirectional – Which Principle Is the Right One?

Unidirectional Knife Gate Valves
These models feature a one-piece housing. They are designed for single-sided pressurisation. Once closed, the fluid pressure presses the gate firmly against the seal. This is the most efficient solution for unidirectional media flows.
Bidirectional Knife Gate Valves (Slide Gate Valves)
If the direction of flow in the system changes, we recommend our two-piece cast iron bodies. They provide an absolutely reliable seal on both sides. The flat seat seal guarantees a smooth, cylindrical passage through the body. This ensures maximum flexibility without any loss of flow.

Pneumatic System With Spring Return
In the event of a drop in pressure, the valves move reliably to their end position (either ‘fail-close’ or ‘fail-open’) thanks to specially calibrated spring assemblies. Even viscous or paste-like media are reliably cut through in the process.
Compressed Air Tank
Alternatively, controlled movement to a safe position in the event of a compressed air supply failure can also be achieved using optional compressed air reservoirs.
Technical Specifications & Design Features
We manufacture standard valve bodies from durable GG-25 grey cast iron. Unidirectional models are also available in high-quality 1.4408 stainless steel. A polyester coating baked on at 190 °C provides lasting protection against corrosion
The gate is made as standard from wear-resistant stainless steel 1.4301 or 1.4401 and seals reliably against NBR seat seals. Depending on the fluid being handled (e.g. high temperatures or aggressive chemicals), unidirectional versions are available with EPDM, FKM or PTFE seals, or with metal seats.
Our knife gate valves cover nominal diameters from DN50 to DN400. We can manufacture larger sizes on request. The flanges comply with the PN10 standard (EN 1092-1) as standard. Versions for PN16, ANSI 150 or special flanges are also available. The overall lengths comply with EN 558-1, Series 20. The integrated side guard plates ensure the necessary health and safety protection. This means that the strict requirements of the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC are easily met.
