Where are part-turn actuators used?

Pneumatically or electrically actuators are always used where ball valves, butterfly valves or similar industrial valves have to be switched automatically via a controller. Mounted directly on our valves, these actuators combine to form a functional unit.

Part-turn actuators mounted on valves

We supply all electric and pneumatic actuators fully assembled and adjusted with valves such as ball valves or butterfly valves. And on request according to your specifications!

Construction and function of a pneumatic actuator

The part-turn actuator is a pneumatic double-piston actuator that was primarily designed to operate butterfly valves and ball valves. It is available with double-acting and spring-return (single-acting) function. The double-piston principle enables high torque with the smallest possible external dimensions. The swivel angle can be adjusted by ±6° with the standard end position setting.

Due to the double-piston principle, the force of the pistons moving in opposite directions is transmitted to a common pinion via two toothed racks that are firmly connected to the pistons. This principle ensures a linear torque curve over the whole stroke.

How does a pneumatic actuator work?

The double-acting function of the actuator - Type ED

The interior space between the two pistons is pressurized via port "A". The pistons move apart. The force of both pistons is transmitted to the pinion "C" via the toothed racks. If port "B" is pressurized and "A" is vented, the two outer chambers are pressurized and the pistons move towards each other. After loosening the nuts "E", the swing angle can be adjusted with the end position adjustment screws "D". The setting is countered with the nuts "E". The pinion and piston are normally assembled as shown.

Function single-acting with spring-return – Typ EE

The interior space between the two pistons is pressurized via port "A". The pistons move apart and compress the springs. The force of both pistons is transmitted to the pinion "C" via the toothed racks. If port "B" is not pressurized, the pistons are returned to the basic position by the spring force when port "A" is vented. After loosening the nuts "E", the swivel angle can be adjusted with the end position adjustment screws "D". The setting is countered with the nuts "E". The spring packs can be adapted to the operating conditions.

The universal talent

NE05 - 50 Nm torque

Our most powerful electric actuator

NE06 ... NE250 - from 60 Nm up to 2.500 Nm torque

Construction design of the electric actuators

The actuator is specially designed for a 90° rotation angle to actuate ball valves and butterfly valves. It is equipped with a robust, waterproof housing, overload protection and heating against condensation. The self-locking worm reduction gear ensures precise position control.

General information about the electric actuator NE

The electric actuators type NE can be used as an powerful 90° actuator for actuating butterfly valves and ball valves. These actuators are also suitable for many applications involving partial revolutions. The actuators are suitable for torques of up to 2,500 Nm. Actuators with a 180° rotation angle for 3/2-way ball valves are also available.

Standard features actuator type NE

  • Aluminum body
  • Optical position indicator
  • Manual override
  • 2 additional limit switches
  • Heating

Design of the NE part-turn actuators

NE actuators share a rugged and waterproof body, thermal overload protection, and anti-condensation heater for a long, trouble-free life. The motor power is transmitted to the actuator spindle with a worm reduction gear, which is self-locking and enables precise position control.

The actuators are equipped with two additional limit switches, a manual override and an optical position indicator as standard. The optical position indicator is protected under a glass cover in the upper part of the body.
